Letting Go & Holding On

They say it's easier to let go of things than to hold on. having personally experienced both, it is my opinion that this stands true only in scenarios not involving the heart. Holding on to a crumbling relationship maybe detrimental, but it also gives us a sense of inexplicable satisfaction. It makes you believe that things can work out, that the person will come back and most important of all, it makes you BELIEVE. it makes you believe in yourself, your companion, your relationship, faith, destiny, miracles and everything else. a glimmer of hope stays alive within you for things to work out. This glimmer doesn't fade away until you realize it is time to move on. they say moving on needs you to forget everything that happened. but how can you forget someone who gave you so much to remember? no, moving on doesn't mean forgetting that person or the memories they gave you. it simply means that you have to accept that those memories are all you have and that person is now gone from your life. Letting go means accepting that what you had is now gone but you have to make your peace with it. You'll see that person around often and it'll hurt to not go over and greet them like you normally do, but eventually you'll get used to it.  Letting go is one of the hardest things you'll ever have to do; but once you do let go of the past, you will walk into the present as an entirely new individual filled with wisdom and strength.
