DIY: Natural Lip Balm

Make Your Very Own Natural Lip Balm At Home!

With so much variety for each product, don’t you hate having limited options for your lip balm choices?  I’ve got a solution to help you customise the lip balm to your preferences!
Instead of sticking to the same old boring flavours in the market, MAKE your own.
And I promise you, it isn’t as tough as you think it is. Actually, it’s incredibly simple and won’t take more than 30 minutes to make! Plus it’ll save you like a ton of money. Also it’s absolutely natural and since you’re the one making it, you can be witness to it and call the shots!

Here’s all you need:
-          2 Teaspoons of grated beeswax (you could use a beeswax candle or block for the same)
-          1 Tablespoon of Coconut Oil (if not liquid. If liquid coconut oil is used, 1 ½ Tablespoon)
-          1 Tablespoon of Almond Oil (Sweet)
-          1 ½ Teaspoon of Honey
-          Essential Oil (Flavour of your choice) (Optional)
Do ensure that all the utensils you use for making the Lip Balm are not used for cooking once the lip balms are made. Keep these aside just for cosmetics because they’re going to have a lot of wax content in them.

Here’s what you do:
-          Take a heat proof bowl. Add the coconut oil, almond oil and grated beeswax in the bowl and mix them.
-          Put the bowl in the microwave to heat for about 2 minutes. Make sure that the beeswax melts entirely.
-          Keep the mix out at room temperature for about 30 seconds.
-          Add honey and mix it well. Since honey tends to separate out from the mixture, ensure that it is still well mixed when you transfer this mix into the container for your lip balm.
-          Add a few drops of the essential oil (flavour of your choice) depending on how strong you want the scent to be.
-          Transfer the mix to the lip balm container.
-          Let it cool at room temperature for 30-40 minutes or keep it in the fridge for 20-25 minutes.

And Voila! Your lip balm is ready. And it didn’t take that much time or effort either!
-          If you want a coloured lip balm, follow the above recipe but add a bit of any eye shadow colour of your choice to the Coconut oil, almond oil and beeswax mix before you keep it for heating!
-          If you want a chap stick and not a box lip balm, go ahead and transfer the mix into a tube instead of a container.

These lip balms are amazing to use, make for perfect adorable gifts and barely take any time or money!
