Behind Her Broken Smile:

She smiles & laughs every day,

Going about her work like always.

Trying to keep her priorities the same,

Alas; it's all in vain.

There's a crack in that smile,

Which she just can't hide.

It's too much to take;

There's a lot at stake.

A prison of her own creation,

She can't escape; she's suffocating;

Those iron clad bars you can't see,

Inside them she can't breathe;

Everyone asking her if she's alright,

She's putting up a strong fight,

Alas it's all in vain;

The strings gave way under the strain.

Every day she gets out of bed,

To herself she said,

"Stay strong pretty girl;

Obstacles that life will hurl,

They're temporary.

Not scary.

You can handle rough times,

Like the stars you will shine."

She said that every morning and every night,

Out of everyone's sight.

Always hoping for a miracle;

To help her get to the top of the hill.

She won't give in to this cruel world.

Overcoming all obstacles thrown her way,

Not going to go astray.

It may take a while,

Everyone might be hostile,

But the smile won't leave her face,

In this world, she's going to find her place.
